It's Been a Minute

In the immortal words of Tom Cruise in Top Gun Maverick, ‘Well it’s been a minute, hey Mav?’. Life has seemed to have gotten in the way. Not that I have stopped writing altogether but there has been much less opportunity since the birth of my second son Austin, our beautiful boy born on Christmas day. I have, however, managed another edit of the first book and have written up to chapter 11 of the second book.

The most exciting news about the book is that I have had my first beta reader in the target market. One of the students at the local dance school I volunteer for as sound technician for the bi-annual show was reading a fantasy novel in between the matinee and evening performance. I leaned across and asked her what the book was. Turns out she is a huge reader and had gotten through nearly 300 pages of that book in two days. I started telling her about Chronicles of The Catalyst and she was keen to read it. I proceeded to get two hard copied printed (pictured), I signed one and hand delivered it a few weeks later. She read it within a week and provided the most wonderful feedback that has proven to be huge inspiration for me to keep going and finish all five chronicles. I have been attempting on and off for the past 2 years to find a literary agent without success and have become a little disheartened, but her enthusiasm and kind words have really motivated me to press on.

So, thank you Jess. I will ensure she is the first to receive the finished draft of the second book.
